The Zahari Stoyanov Youth Centre of Dobrich has organized a folk meeting of communities for the International Day for Tolerance marked on November 16.

One of the events was a culinary fair featuring six communities, with English, Russian, Ukrainian, Armenian, Turkish and Bulgarian participants showed items from their culture and customs. Traditional Russian, Ukrainian, Armenian and Turkish attire was on display, as well as folk costume typical of Bulgaria's northeastern Dobrudzha region.

The event's organizer, Marinela Georgieva, told BTA this was the first time Britons had joined the event. They offered visitors tea and sweet treats.

Georgieva said this was the first time the event had been held on such a large scale, attracting visitors from other towns. "We want to show young people the importance of tolerance," she said.

The day started with an informal training session at which participants in the events and visitors talked about their similarities and differences. "People got along, no matter where they are from," Georgieva said.

A concert in the evening will showcase traditional dances of various communities. All participants are invited to join in the performance of a Ukrainian song.
