Bulgaria’s 51st National Assembly will open its inaugural sitting at 11 a.m. on November 11, according to a decree issued by President Rumen Radev on Tuesday, Parliament’s website says.

As required by the Constitution, the first session will be opened by the oldest MP, who, in this case, is Silvi Kirilov of There Is Such a People (TISP).

The Members of Parliament will be sworn in, and statements will be made by representatives of the parties and coalitions in the National Assembly.

At the maiden session, the MPs will elect a chairperson and deputy chairpersons.

On Thursday, the political entities in the new parliament reached an agreement on the distribution of their seats in the plenary hall after a nearly four-hour meeting.

The Central Election Commission determined the distribution of the MP seats on October 30. Eight parties and coalitions entered Parliament: GERB-UDF (69 seats), Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (37 seats), Vazrazhdane (35 seats), Movement for Rights and Freedoms - New Beginning (30 seats), BSP - United Left (20 seats), Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (19 seats), TISP (18 seats), Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) (12 seats).
