An exhibition on conservation, environmental destruction and the fundamental themes of ecology will be shown at The Mission Gallery in Sofia. The Eco-Consciousness exhibition will open on November 12 and stay on display until January 10, the organizers said.

The event is presented by Bulgaria's State Institute for Culture under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will be organized in partnership with the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Center in Skopje.

The selected works by curator and art critic Ana Frangovska included in the exhibition, were created in the last four sessions of the Galichnik International Art Colony and feature artists who have participated in the Colony over the past four years.

"They have proven professional experience in their countries and beyond, specializing in the audio-visual arts, many of them breaking stereotypes of established norms in fine art," the organizers explained.

The exhibition will include artists from Bulgaria, the Republic of North Macedonia, Greece, the Netherlands, Romania, Poland, Montenegro, and Denmark. The featured artists have explored natural and cultural complexities, focusing on the political aspects of ecology, sustainability, social justice, and economic equality.

The Eco-Consciousness exhibition opened at the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Center in Skopje in June 2024 in the presence of Bulgaria's caretaker Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov. The Cultural Centre is a partner of the Art Colony and annual support of Bulgarian artists participating in the exhibition is part of its programme.
