site.btaParliament Adopts Report on Interministerial Commission for Export Control and Non-Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction

September 18 (BTA) - The National Assembly adopted on
Wednesday a report of the Interministerial Commission for Export
 Control and Non-Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction
with the Minister of Economy. Of the 102 MPs who voted, 101 were
 in favor and one abstained.

The report states that in 2018, the Commission issued 887
authorizations for defense-related products, with exports and
transfers from Bulgaria totaling 766 million euro. The total
value of licenses issued for the export and transfer of
defense-related products is 1.004 billion euro, with the largest
 share of exports being to Saudi Arabia, India, Afghanistan, the
 United States, Turkey and Algeria.

The Interministerial Commission also issued 363 import licenses
for defense-related products totaling 412 million euro from
Serbia, Germany and the United States. Imports totalled at of
177 million euro and came mostly from Serbia, Romania and
Slovakia. RY/DT
