The biggest Halloween festival in Romania (West Side Hallo Fest) took place for the second year in a row next to the biggest lake in Bucharest, Lacul Morii. The event, which opened on Friday and continueд until Monday, brought together thousands of visitors dressed as zombies, vampires, werewolves, witches and ghosts.

A total of 32,000 square meters have been transformed into a setting for scary photo sessions. Some 45 tonnes of pumpkins were used for the festival. Some are dedicated to pumpkin carving workshops, where children and parents can make their own pumpkin lanterns. The event also included mask workshops and areas where children could play and paint faces, a hair and make-up show, a competition for the most attractive costume.

Those looking for thrills could ride the Ghost Ride or tour the haunted house.

"It is like a multimedia journey, filled with mystery and adrenaline, with special effects and holograms, through which visitors will be transported to a world of shadows and sinister surprises," the organizers told BTA.

Visitors, adults and children, were encouraged to join in the fun and come in costume, participate in a parade and win prizes.

A total of 80 vendors offered a variety of handmade items, including jewelry, knits, candles, decorations, T-shirts, masks, all Halloween themed. Twenty food trucks sold spooky culinary delicacies inspired by the holiday or in tune with the fall: roasted pumpkin-flavored ice cream with cookies and baked apple, Dracula pizza, lollipops decorated with bats and more.

The festival also had live music. One of the most popular Romanian artists, Smiley, performed on stage on Saturday

The entrance ticket for the festival was 20 lei (BGN 8). Access on Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm local (and Bulgarian) time was be free.

No fee for children under 12.

Part of the collected funds will be used to build new houses for cats from Sector 6 of the Romanian capital.
