site.btaTirana to Host 15th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media
October 25 (BTA) - The 15th World Meeting of Bulgarian
Media will take place in Tirana between November 21 and 25,
2019, Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Director General Maxim Minchev
told a news conference at the BTA Multimedia Centre on Friday.
The venue of the event will be the Tirana International Hotel &
Conference Centre, and the main partners are the Albanian
Telegraphic Agency (ATA) and the Albanian Radio and Television
(RTSH).
The topic of this year's meeting, organized by BTA and the
Association of Bulgarian Media Worldwide, will be "Media and
National Priorities", Minchev said.
In connection with the choice of a host country, the BTA
Director General recalled that the Bulgarian minority in Albania
was officially recognized two years ago. Its size varies by
source between 60,000 and 170,000. The range is broad because
the number includes representatives of the oldest diaspora,
dating back to the 12th-14th centuries, Minchev explained. He
added that now there are Bulgarians in Elbasan (12,000), Tirana
(4,000), Durres (over 3,000), Mala Prespa, Golo Brdo and Gora.
The previous world meetings of Bulgarian media were held in
Sofia, Chicago, Rome, Madrid, Varna and Bourgas, Vienna,
Amsterdam, Bucharest, Plovdiv and Veliko Turnovo, Bosilegrad and
Caribrod (Dimitrovgrad), Athens, Prague, Chisinau and Skopje.
