Bulgarian jewelry artist Marina Simeonova will participate in the Romanian Jewelry Week, which began on Wednesday evening at the National Library in Bucharest. The event features 230 artists from 40 countries, including Australia, Austria, Argentina, Belgium, Great Britain, Italy, Iran, China, Netherlands, South Korea, Portugal, USA, Ukraine, Finland, Japan.
Marina Simeonova works with natural materials and found objects - sea glass, wood, natural stones, pods combined with precious stones, silver and epoxy resin.
Simeonova's concept for the collection she will present in Bucharest was inspired by ether, described in Greek mythology as the purest substance that fills space, the breath of the gods.
A Bulgarian trace can also be seen in the jewelry of Corina Cubici from Romania. Her work was inspired by pafti - an invariable part of the traditional women's costume in Romania, but also in Bulgaria.
Most of the jewelry on display at the National Library in Bucharest have hidden or overt messages. Like the Russian Friendship brooch, made by Tetiana Chorna from Ukraine.
Romanian Jewelry Week is taking place for the fifth time and will continue until October 6.
