site.btaVP Iotova: Hopefully Registration of Parties' Ballots with Election Commission Goes Smoothly
Vice President Iliana Iotova, who attended the 31st National Karakachani Convention in Karandila, Southeastern Bulgaria, on Saturday, told reporters she is hopeful that registration of individual parties' ballots will take place smoothly with the Central Election Commission (CEC) over the following week.
Iotova commented on the ongoing scandals surrounding the Movement for Rights and Freedoms party, saying that a situation like this is worrying on the eve of elections, since the stability of political parties is a pledge for stable governance. She added: "Law enforcement agencies must pass a tough test and prove that they can indeed be guarantors of the rule of law."
On September 2, the CEC will start accepting registration documents for parties and coalitions to participate in the snap parliamentary elections on October 27. According to the adopted schedule, the CEC has until September 11 to register parties and coalitions for the elections.
