August 25 is the third and last day of the celebrations on the occasion of 129 years of organized tourism in Bulgaria. "The number of tourists who go to the mountains on their own is increasing and this is our role now - to organize all these groups so that we can be useful not only to them, but also to the mountains and nature," Chairman of the Bulgarian Tourist Union (BTU) Ventsislav Venev said.
He pointed out that the benefit for unorganized tourists being guided by the BTU is that they learn many useful tips they might not know related to gear, planning and preparation. In addition, the BTU offers various discounts in accommodation in the mountains, and provides information on weather conditions, opening hours and prices.
According to Venev, the development of the Vitosha natural park faces a long-standing problem that needs to be solved urgently: the completion of the Vitosha Park development plan.
During the ceremony, Deputy Tourism Minister Irena Georgieva said that registrations of Bulgarian tourists from January to the end of July grew by more than 5% compared to a very strong 2019.
