Uniformed and civilian employees of the Ministry of Interior gathered near the National Assembly building on Monday.

"We are all fed up with political parties using the Interior Ministry for political purposes," said Lachezar Kolev of the Security Police. According to him, this is mainly done by Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB).

"Tension is building up in the Interior Ministry. [Caretaker Interior Minister] Kalin Stoyanov did things that have not been done for 20 years. Every one of us is tired of the police being used, and it is not true that the police did not do their job during the elections," Kolev said.

According to him, it was his decision to hold the event on Monday and it was entirely spontaneous. Every attack on the police influences the composition, and the public remains in uncertainty, he said.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part in this initiative. They will try to oppose once again the frantic desires of some failed politicians to control the system of the Ministry of Interior. These politicians will try to use the system as a political chewing gum and a punching bag on which to exercise themselves,” Stoyanov said.

During the demonstration, sirens were sounded on police vehicles and motorcycles.
