There Is Such a People (TISP) floor leader Toshko Yordanov commented for the media on the decision of the Constitutional Court invalidating part of the amendments to the Constitution. “We already have evidence that the Constitutional Court, instead of being independent and equidistant from everyone, is politically dominated because the part concerning caretaker governments remains,” he said.
According to Yordanov, the Constitutional Court cannot decide whether the reforms are right or wrong, and they are being undone because two of the judges are political appointees exactly from the period when the changes in the Constitution were made.
"We said even then that the judicial reform was poorly implemented. We attacked it for a reason. It is badly done, badly implemented and some of the things are not within the competence of the Ordinary National Assembly," Yordanov commented. “The scariest thing is that the Constitutional Court is a political body now, and badly made changes to the Constitution are harmful for the whole country,” he added. According to him, there is no independent body in the state anymore to which one can turn.
Asked by which parties the court is controlled, Yordanov pointed to the parties of the "assemblage", Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), GERB and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF). “The problem is that half of the assemblage came out the fools, because the other half picked on and ridiculed them. What CC-DB proposed in the part with the judicial reform was kicked out, and the things that suit GERB remain,” Toshko Yordanov commented.
