site.btaPM Glavchev: Fire Victims Will Be Provided with Same Accommodation as Ukrainian Refugees
“The government adopted three separate decisions to compensate for the effects of wildfires,” Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev told a news briefing in the Council of Ministers after Wednesday's government meeting.
"The first is a programme to compensate individuals for costs as a result of the fires. It provides for a higher allocation than the one from the Labour Ministry - BGN 1,578 for urgent expenses and BGN 2,500 for equipment and furniture. If damages exceed these amounts, this programme will come into effect. This programme will also cover individuals who have suffered damages but are not registered as farmers," the Prime Minister said.
Glavchev said that the second decision is related to the provision of BGN 1 million to the Defence Ministry to equip more of the Cougar helicopters with water baskets. Glavchev recalled that this was discussed at a Security Council meeting of the Council of Ministers.
"The last decision concerns the Interior Ministry and the necessary funds in relation to the provision of equipment, repairs, fuel and everything that is related to the fires," the Prime Minister said.
"Fire victims will be offered the same type of accommodation as Ukrainian refugees accommodated. This issue has been repeatedly raised. Until they are provided with normal living conditions, they should be accommodated in the same type of accommodation as the Ukrainian refugees. I hope that the situation will calm down," Glavchev added.
