A photo exhibition on the history of Bosilegrad and a documentary film were presented on Friday evening at the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Center in Skopje.
"I believe that everyone can learn about how to love Bulgaria, the native land, from the people who live in the Western outskirts and from those who live here in North Macedonia. The purpose of our meeting is to have a look forward and to show each other that together we are stronger, even though it is not always easy," said Antonia Veleva, the Director of the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Centre in Skopje, at the opening of the event.
Bosilegrad's GLAS Association Chair Aleksandar Dimitrov expressed his joy from visiting Skopje.
"Bosilegrad, although small, has a lot to present, because the photos from the exhibition evoke emotions. We are trying to preserve the Bulgarian spirit and self-confidence of the people who live in the Western outskirts. What we can do is show that this is a duty," Dimitrov said.
The photo exhibition of 41 panels with motifs and landscapes from Bosilegrad and several villages, as well as with traditional Bosilegrad costumes, is the work of three professional photographers - Asen Velikov, Vihren Georgiev and Vladislav Chanev, and the idea for the exhibition was born after a workshop organized last summer in Bosilegrad and the surrounding villages," Dimitrov explained.
The documentary directed by Vladislav Chanev depicts the International Children's Easter Festival in Bosilegrad, organized by GLAS Association, which has been held for 30 years.
"The true price of the homeland is known only to those who have been left without it," said Cultural Information Centre "Bosilegrad" Chair Ivan Nikolov, who also visited Skopje for the event.
It was organized by the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Center in Skopje, together with GLAS Association and with the support of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture. The event was realized with the assistance of the Programme for Support of Bulgarian Communities, Organizations and Initiatives of Bulgarians Abroad of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
