The Art Galleries Rotenberg-Uzunov and Alexandru Radulescu from Bucharest will open a joint exhibition on July 16 at the Palace Cultural Centre in Balchik. The exhibition called Balchik: World of Art, 100 Years Later is related to Romanian interwar art, said the cultural centre on Monday.
The exhibition includes 52 works, photographs, and documents that capture notable moments of the Black Sea School of Art, a term coined in 1923 by art historian and theorist Henri Focillon. Visitors can see works signed by Dan Ialomiteanu, Eustatiu Stoenescu, Jean L. Cosmovici and many others. Their works are joined by antique photographs and an invitation to the christening of Marie Alexandra Victoria (the future Queen Marie of Romania), as well as a passe-partout photograph painted by Her Majesty.
The event will bring together important original works belonging to the galleries Rotenberg-Uzunov, Alexandru Radulescu, the Historic Auction House Casa de licitatii and a selection of private collectors. It is organized in partnership with the Palace Cultural Centre in Balchik and the Bulgarian News Agency.
