Speaking to reporters before the National Council of Continue the Change (CC) on Saturday, CC Co-chair Assen Vassilev said that the government-forming mandate is a heavy responsibility that needs to be very carefully discussed. Vassilev sees no preconditions for the formation of a pro-European anti-corruption government in the 50th Parliament.

"I continue to believe that there is no anti-corruption, pro-European majority in this Parliament," Vassilev said, adding that it would be impossible to form a government that would lead Bulgaria towards Europe and towards better incomes for citizens and a fairer and more social country where everyone wants to live.

Vassilev said that this does not prevent some important bills to be adopted by Parliament if there is time for it. As examples he mentioned the bills blocking the second payment under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, bills regarding the functioning of the Counter-Corruption Commission, whistleblowers, and personal bankruptcy.
