The parliamentary group of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) is meeting on Tuesday in Parliament in connection with the second mandate to form a government. The meeting was announced on Monday by chairman Delyan Peevski, who convened a party's leaders' council. The MRF is the second political force in the 50th National Assembly and the second exploratory mandate to form a government is expected to be handed to them.
On Monday, MRF Chairman Delyan Peevski said that parliamentary parties will be consulted to see whether they are ready to support a government on the second mandate. "We won't be playing games. If we see that there is a chance for a majority, we'll go ahead," Peevski said. Peevski said that a government can be formed on any mandate.
Initially, Delyan Peevski said he would return the mandate unfulfilled. Then the MPs who voted against GERB-UDF prime minister-designate Rosen Zhelyazkov said that there could be a government with the second mandate. This was also backed by expelled MP Jeyhan Ibryamov, chairman Dzhevdet Chakarov and MP Ramadan Atalay. The three met with MRF honorary chairman Ahmed Dogan at his property in Rosenets Park on Saturday.
Continue the Change on Sunday said that while Delyan Peevski is heading the MRF, they cannot discuss policies with the Movement. Yesterday, the CC said it did not see conditions for the formation of a pro-European, anti-corruption government and remain a constructive opposition.
Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB). after a meeting of the party's Executive Council on Sunday, proposed a technical government. On Monday their coalition partners from Yes, Bulgaria said that it was unlikely that there would be a majority for a technical government in the 50th National Assembly.
Both There Is Such a People (TISP) and Vazrazhdane have demanded the third. TISP is proposing an expert government and Vazrazhdane a coalition government against GERB and MRF.
