Charity projects funded by the Association Femmes d’Europe in 2023 have been presented at a ceremony at the Berlaymont building in Brussels. Opened by European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Iliana Ivanova, the event was attended by ambassadors and diplomats, sponsors, and members of the organization, the Bulgarian Embassy in Belgium said on its website.

The Bulgarian Embassy was represented by Semo Semov, Deputy Head of Mission and Counsellor.

Among the 83 projects presented was a Bulgarian one concerning the introduction of medical equipment for children with lung diseases in the children's ward of the Dr. Teodosi Vitanov Hospital for Active Treatment in the town of Tryavna (North Central Bulgaria). The project was led by the head of the Bulgarian group, Irina Gabrovska-Nijborg.

"Established almost half a century ago, the Association Femmes d’Europe is the largest international charitable and non-political organization in Brussels, made up of 23 national groups whose 900+ members work on a purely voluntary basis," the Embassy said.

The Association's main objective is to help the most vulnerable, often women and children, focusing mainly on education, training, and health programmes. Small projects are funded to reach those who do not receive government subsidies and are not supported by large NGOs.
