The biggest question Bulgaria faces is how to get its children back and how to keep them here because without people nothing can be done, said BTA Director General Kiril Valchev on Bulgarian National Television.

One of the topics was an issue of the LIK magazine, dedicated to the 120th birth anniversary of poet Atanas Dalchev.

Quoting Dalchev that "in the soul of the Bulgarian, centrifugal forces still seem to prevail over centripetal ones," Valchev said that Bulgarians might need a centre. "We were born in this country and it is high time we understood that we are destined to be together," he said.

Valchev also spoke about the19th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media, held by BTA in Ukraine's Odesa, Bolhrad and Izmail, where there is a large Bulgarian community. A total of 39 journalists from 32 media outlets, from 14 countries participated.

"The first important message from the meeting was to show that we are one community with these people, that we empathize with what they have experienced during the war," Valchev said. The second message is about journalism in general - the place of journalists is where the events are. BTA is the only news agency that has a correspondent in Odesa, he added.

"If we return to the place of events, we will disprove the expectations that AI will replace journalists, because it is impossible with artificial intelligence, which uses accumulated information, to cover events that are happening at the moment, said Valchev.

"If we return to the scene of events, maybe we will regain the respect of politicians," he added.
