Spokesperson for the European Commission (EC) Ana Pisonero spoke to the media in Brussels on Tuesday regarding North Macedonia's new government. She said that the EC has already sent an address to North Macedonia's Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and the new ministers following the formation of the coalition government in the country.
"I think that the message is pretty clear – North Macedonia needs to make the most of the momentum that exists on enlargement in order to move forward decisively on its EU path", she said. She also emphasized the constitutional amendments the country has committed to as part of its EU accession path and stressed the importance of leveraging the current momentum to make significant progress.
Addressing the issue of the non-use of the constitutional name of North Macedonia, Pisonero said this is clearly stipulated under the Prespa Agreement. "It is clear that all sides need to respect the terms of the agreements and implement it in good faith", she added.
