site.btaVazrazhdane Leader: If We Received Third Government-forming Mandate, We Would Not Negotiate with GERB, MRF

Vazrazhdane Leader Kostadin Kostadinov said Sunday in a BNR interview that if his party receives the third mandate to form a government, they will start talks with Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), BSP for Bulgaria, There Is Such a People and Velichie. 

"There are two parties in Parliament which are a huge problem for the functioning of the political system, GERB and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), but these two formations have 115 votes, and the rest of us have 125," Kostadinov said. All the others said that GERB and MRF should be isolated from power, he added.

Kostadinov explained that the topics on which they differ with the other formations can be resolved through a referendum. "We have a formula for success," he said, adding that in this case the Prime Minister should be a consensus figure.

Kostadinov argued that there are two options - either a cabinet with the mandate of Vazrazhdane or new elections. He added that some parties or MPs may still support a cabinet by GERB and the MRF.

"There must be new elections. When there is a political crisis, it is resolved by elections, not by forming a government to put together that which cannot be together," said Kostadinov.

In Bulgaria, the vast majority of people do not trust the State, Parliament and the institutions, they think that Bulgaria has no future and for this reason they did not go to vote. If there are new elections in the fall, voter turnout could drop below 30%, commented Kostadinov. 

On Monday, President Rumen Radev will begin consultations with representatives of the parliamentary groups in the 50th National Assembly. The head of state will hold consultations with the parliamentary group of GERB-UDF, MRF and CC-DB.
