Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov met with Swedish Ambassador to Bulgaria Katarina Rangnitt, the Foreign Ministry reported on Monday. The talks with the Stockholm-based diplomat took place in Sofia on June 14.
Kondov and Rangnitt gave high marks for the interaction between the two countries and their fruitful cooperation in international organizations. They acknowledged the shared benefit of a future strengthening of dialogue and partnership in light of this year's 110th anniversary of the establishment of Bulgarian-Swedish diplomatic relations and after Sweden's accession to NATO on March 7.
The host thanked Stockholm for its consistent support for Bulgarian foreign policy priorities such as the nation's bids to join the Schengen area (already achieved in part) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Each side thanked the other for the cooperation of government institutions for the conduct of early parliamentary elections in Bulgaria and European Parliament Elections earlier this month.
Kondov and Rangnitt exchanged views on current matters on the European agenda, among them assistance to Ukraine, EU enlargement, the Western Balkans and security challenges. They expressed their common desire to boost Bulgaria's political dialogue with Sweden and to deepen bilateral cooperation in all areas of shared interest.
