Voting abroad for Bulgaria's simultaneous national parliamentary elections and European Parliament elections on June 9, 2024 will be available at a total of 769 sections in 60 countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov told a news briefing here on Thursday.

Both kinds of election will take place at 388 sections in 57 countries - either EU Member States or third countries in which Bulgaria has diplomatic and consular missions.

Members of the European Parliament from Bulgaria will not be voted for in New Zealand, Singapore and Iceland because this country has no embassies and consulates there, the Foreign Ministry specified.

The largest number of overseas voting sections, 166, will be in Turkey, and voting for the European Parliament will be conducted in four of them. Machine voting will be an option in a total of 245 sections abroad.

Kondov described as "a new challenge" the first ever combination of national parliamentary and European elections. "We have coped with all challenges and have so far met all deadlines under the Election Code," the Deputy Foreign Minister pointed out.
