Nearly 450 elderly people with chronic illnesses and permanent disabilities will continue to receive health and social care services in their homes thanks to mobile teams and telecare, after the Cabinet adopted the Programme Innovative Community Care Models in Favour of People with Chronic Diseases and Permanent Disabilities 2024 here on Wednesday.

In another resolution, the Cabinet provided additional BGN 720,000 for the Programme financing.

The programme will ensure the functioning of the seven home care centres in the municipalities of Vidin, Montana, Belogradchik, Oryahovo, Byala Slatina, Krivodol and Vratsa and the Control and Communication Centre in Vratsa until the end of the year. The provision of services in the home environment will then be upgraded under the Human Resources Development Programme 2021 - 2027.

The services under the Programme will be provided following the model of a completed project of the Bulgarian Red Cross, implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the Ministry of Health and the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities with the support of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014 – 2021.

The funds for the provision of the services will be provided from the state budget under the budgets of the municipalities of Vidin, Montana, Belogradchik, Oryahovo, Byala Slatina, Krivodol and Vratsa.
