site.btaUPDATED Continue the Change Holds General Assembly
The Continue the Change Party held a General Assembly in Hall 3 of the National Palace of Culture on Saturday and Sunday, the party said.
The congress was opened by Continue the Change’s top-of-the-list candidate for the European Parliment elections, Nikola Minchev. He noted that the upcoming European elections in June are the first in which CC will run and will be tasked with representing "all Bulgarians with an awareness of the problems of united Europe and a vision for their solution".
Addressing the congress, outgoing Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov said that the CC are "essentially launching their election campaign today," highlighting what his Cabinet has achieved in the past nine months.
At the General Assembly, Democrats for Strong Bulgaria Leader Atanas Atanasov, who is among the leaders of the Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria coalition, called for a two-in-one election, meaning simultaneous European and snap parliamentary elections, "for the sake of saving millions" of taxpayers' money. He also called on President Rumen Radev and the caretaker prime minister-designate to replace outgoing minister Kalin Stoyanov with "an impartial minister of the interior so that we can expect fair elections". "We do not trust Kalin Stoyanov. He has proven to be biased," Atanasov added.
The congress was attended by some 600 delegates from across the country who elected the party's new governing bodies - the Executive, National and Supervisory Councils.
