Europe's defence industry needs to be innovative and adaptable to position Europe as a global leader in security, through high and deep technologies, outgoing Minister of Innovation and Growth Milena Stoycheva said during the national conference titled "20 Years Bulgaria in NATO: Because We're Stronger Together".

According to Stoycheva, innovation plays a key role in ensuring the modern protection of citizens. We have every reason to be proud that during these years (as a NATO member) Bulgaria has proven itself as a worthy and reliable partner, the Minister said.

Over the last decade, the space sector has become a strategic asset for Europe's economic growth, she said. "We are working on a synchronised policy. I have initiated the creation of a working group at the Ministry, which will work on drafting a strategy for Bulgaria's space policy. I hope this work will lead to the creation of a Bulgarian space agency. We have every reason and ambition for this to happen," Milena Stoycheva further commented.

The forum is held under the auspices of the government. It is organized by the Diplomatic Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with the Information Centre of the Ministry of Defence, the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria and the Sofia Security Forum.
