Bulgarian Ambassador Desislava Naydenova-Gospodinova met with the President of the Austrian Bundesrat Margit Goll on the occasion of the assumption by the province of Lower Austria of the rotating presidency of the Bundesrat, the Bulgarian Embassy in Austria reported on its website. Naydenova-Gospodinova congratulated Goll and underlined the active ties between Bulgaria and Lower Austria.

More than 20,000 Bulgarian citizens live in Vienna and Lower Austria and contribute to bilateral contacts on a daily basis, the Embassy said.

Among the topics discussed during the meeting were education, women's empowerment, including success stories and challenges to their realization, as well as the connecting role of Europe across borders.

Ambassador Naydenova-Gospodinova stressed the importance of Bulgaria's full membership in Schengen, which is one of the tangible achievements of European integration.

Ambassador Naydenova-Gospodinova also held a meeting with the Director of the Institute for Medieval Studies of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Claudia Rapp, at her invitation.
