Rami Kiwan will participate in the Olympic Games in Paris. His strong performance and convincing victory ensured a quota for the Bulgarian national team, after winning his quarterfinal match in the 71kg category of the qualifiers in Busto Arsizio (Italy).

Kiwan showed his full potential in the fight with the bronze medalist of the World Championships in Tashkent, Wanderson de Oliveira. The match was very tough, and the Bulgarian was able to impose his style with a lot of movement and play from a distance. The Brazilian was looking for more singles and heavy hits, but Kiwan's defence was almost impenetrable and saw him to a 4-1 success.

The Bulgarian representative forged an advance of 3:1 judges' votes after the first two rounds. This made his opponent take even more risks in the third which allowed Kiwan to counter.

The victory marks a debut for 23-year-old Rami Kiwan at the Olympics. He is the fourth Bulgarian boxer to secure a place in the French capital so far, along with Javier Ibanez (57 kg), Stanimira Petrova (54 kg) and Svetlana Kamenova (57 kg).

Zlatislava Chukanova failed to win in the category up to 50 kilograms. She left the ring with a 0:5 (28:29, 28:28, 28:28, 28:29, 28:28) defeat against Ira Viegas. Three of the judges gave a draw, but with a preference for Viegas.

Zlatislava Chukanova will have another chance to secure a quota for Paris 2024 in May in Thailand, during the second qualification for the Olympic Games.
