President Rumen Radev discussed the contemporary challenges facing the global economy and their regional and national implications at a meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, at Dondukov 2, the head of State's press office said on Monday. The meeting was held at the initiative of the IMF managing director and among the highlights of the talks were the need to boost economic growth after the COVID-19 pandemic and overcome the negative effects on the economy of military conflicts in neighbouring regions, as well as the challenges arising from the increasing application of artificial intelligence.

Investing in education and promoting competitiveness as a factor for economic growth were highlighted as key for Bulgaria and Europe during the meeting. The need for clear and targeted measures to reduce inflation here, which is still above the average for the European Union and has a negative effect on economic stability and the long-term strategic goals of our country, was also highlighted during the talks.
