Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov sent a letter to Uzbekistan's Prosecutor General Nigmatilla Yuldashev expressing satisfaction with the level of cooperation between law enforcement institutions of the two countries, especially in the field of international legal assistance, the prosecution service said on Wednesday.

On March 1, Iliyan Todorov, sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of the youths Kiril Vazharov and Vasil Alexandrov on April 18, 2009 near the Solo night club in Sofia, was returned to Bulgaria from Uzbekistan.

"For the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office, the protection of legality and the fundamental rights of all citizens is a top priority, and in this direction we rely on long-term and fruitful joint work," wrote Sarafov. In the letter, he expressed high appreciation for the professionalism, exceptional competence and efficiency of the prosecutors from Uzbekistan.
