Bulgarian Ivaylo Ivanov has won the silver medal in the men’s -90kg final at the Tashkent Grand Slam 2024, the Bulgarian Judo Federation said.
The Bulgarian conceded the final to Greece’s Theodoros Tselidis, a two-time bronze medallist of European championships.
This is Ivanov’s second medal since the beginning of the year, after he took bronze at the Baku Grand Slam in mid-February.
After losing to the Bulgarian judoka, world vice-champion Christian Parlati (Italy) and Olympic bronze medallist Davlat Bobonov (Uzbekistan) got the bronze.
Prior to the final, Ivanov had four victories, all of which he claimed in overtime. He defeated Kazakhstan’s Aidar Arapov, Russia's Ikhvan Edilsultanov, Christian Parlati, and Davlat Bobonov, number one in the ranking since 2022.
