PM Denkov Presents Bulgaria’s Counter-Corruption Measures at Munich Security Conference

Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov presented Bulgaria's efforts to counter corruption at the Spotlight Corruption session within the framework of the Munich Security Conference, the Council of Ministers said on Facebook on Friday. Denkov outlined the reforms in Bulgaria’s judiciary and the counter-corruption measures that the government and parliament have been working on in recent months. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of cooperation with international organizations such as the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Council of Europe and Transparency International.

Bulgaria's experience and efforts were acknowledged by the rest of the participants in the discussion - US Senate Budget Committee Chairperson Sheldon Whitehouse, Transparency International Vice President Ketakandriana Rafitoson and Guatemalan President Bernardo Arevalo, the Council of Ministers' statement further reads.

Earlier on Friday, on the sidelines of the Conference, Prime Minister Denkov and Deputy Prime Minister Mariya Gabriel held a meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. Denkov also held talks with Plans Robert Silvers, Under Secretary of US Department of Homeland Security for Strategy, Policy, and Plans. Talks were also held with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg and Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte.
