site.btaPoll: Bulgarians Do Not Expect Major Changes in Government Policy after Rotation
A total of 66.4% of Bulgarians do not expect significant changes in government policy after the upcoming rotation in March between Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov of CC-DB and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel of GERB-UDF, according to a Gallup International Balkan poll commissioned by the Bulgarian National Television. Some 18% expect significant changes, while the remaining 15.6% are not sure. The nationally representative survey was conducted among 807 adults between between January 11 and 19, 2024.
The GERB-UDF electorate is the only group of respondents that shares the opinion that big changes are coming with the rotation. Some of this coalition’s supporters admit that they would like to see changes, the poll shows.
A total of 41.4% of the respondents are against the resignation of the government and holding early parliamentary elections, while 34.2% are in favour of it. The remaining 24.4% are hesitant.
Gallup International Balkan says that there is no enthusiasm for this Government, but there is also a reluctance for new political instability and elections now seem quite undesirable. Some 30.9% support the idea of early elections, while 48.4% are against it. The rest are hesitant.
Tracking those figures from month to month, Gallup observes that the electorate is tired of the constant political changes and elections over the past few years.
The level of trust in the Government is low. A total of 22.2% have trust in the Government, while 67.7% do not. The remaining are not sure. The current political situation provides a serious niche for alternatives, Gallup International Balkan concludes.
