A flu epidemic has been declared in Sliven Region, Southeastern Bulgaria , from February 6 to 12, the Ministry of Health press service reported on Monday.
Elective consultations for healthy children and pregnant women, preventive checkups and compulsory immunization and reimmunization procedures carried out by GPs are cancelled during a flu epidemic. Visits to hospitals (except when the patient is terminally ill) and social care institutions for children and adults are prohibited. At this stage, no suspension of school classes is planned, so a strict daily filter will be conducted in nurseries, kindergartens and schools.
The epidemic in Veliko Tarnovo Region, Northern Bulgaria, was extended until February 9.
Some of the measures in Varna region, on the Black Sea, are cancelled, while others are extended until February 9. Scheduled consultations shall be resumed, subject to a strict anti-epidemic regime. Preventive checkups, compulsory immunizations and reimmunizations will also be carried out under the same conditions. The ban on hospital visits and the obligatory daily filter in kindergartens and an anti-epidemic regime in schools will remain in force until Friday.
