A seven-member group, including 4 Bulgarian citizens, were detained in Spain after an investigation into illegal trafficking of motor vehicles. The actions of the Iberian authorities were taken after a series of operations carried out in Bulgaria by National Police officers in the period between May and October 2023 in several areas of the country, said the press centre of the Ministry of the Interior on Monday.

As part of the investigation, the Bulgarian criminologists also started working on clarifying the origins of a number of vehicles. In the course of their actions, then, National Police officers Police confiscated more than 20 cars. For others, information was obtained that they had had their data changed and were exported to Spain, and this information was promptly submitted to the authorities in Madrid.

As a result of the active operational exchange and an operation undertaken on the territory of the Kingdom of Spain, in January, the seven participants in the criminal group were arrested. A total of 10 cars were discovered, and according to preliminary data, they were valued at around EUR 350,000.
