Austrian pianist Rudolf Buchbinder will be a guest of Sofia Philharmonic on February 8. Under the baton of Austrian conductor Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, Buchbirnder will present Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1.

In the other part of the concert, the National Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Wagner's Faust Overture, Prelude and Death of Isolde from Tristan and Isolde, and Strauss' Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Branks.

Buchbinder is the first pianist to have played all of Beethoven's piano sonatas within a single festival summer (the 2014 Salzburg Festival).

Tjeknavorian is a violinist who in the 2022/2023 season shifted the focus of his career towards conducting. He recently conducted Munich Symphony Orchestra, South Netherlands Philharmonic, Bruckner Orchester Linz, and Orchestra Haydn di Bolzano e Trento.
