European Commissioner for Innovation, Scientific Research, Culture, Education and Youth Iliana Ivanova will be on a working visit in Sofia on January 28 and 29, the European Commission representation in Bulgaria said.

On Sunday, she will participate in a working meeting with investors and partners, organized by the European Innovation Council Fund (ECI).

On January 29, Commissioner Ivanova will open a European Innovation Council information day, where the directions of the programme and ways to support innovators and researchers in the field of deep technologies (Deep Tech) will be presented. ECI Experts from will present the event participants with practical information on successful application, and beneficiaries will share their experiences.

The European Commission launched the ECI in March 2021 as a specialized unit in the Horizon Europe programme to develop and scale up cutting-edge innovation with a budget of over EUR 10 billion for the period 2021-2027. The European Innovation Council Fund, established in June 2020, is a key initiative of the European Commission to make direct equity and quasi-equity investments of EUR 500,000 to EUR 15 million in the capital of start-ups and SMEs from all sectors in all EU countries that have a large impact.

European Commissioner Ivanova and Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Genka Petrova will participate in the event at the initiative of Minister of Innovation and Growth, Milena Stoicheva her line ministry said.

The different directions of the Horizon Europe programme and the opportunities to support innovators and researchers in deep technologies will be presented.
