The conditions for tourism in the high parts of the mountains are not suitable, said the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross on Saturday. Mountain rescuers warned that the weather in the high areas is not suitable for hiking, with wind, low clouds and snowfall.

The MRS recalled that there was quite a strong wind in the previous days as well, which led to the formation of large snow drifts.

During the past 24 hours, there were no reports of accidents or distressed tourists, the mountain rescuers reported.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology issued a yellow code warning for strong northwesterly wind with an average speed of 14-19 metres per second, with gusts up to 21-24 metres per second, in 13 regions of the country.
