President Rumen Radev won’t attend the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected constitutional judges, his press secretariat said.

Taking an oath to abide by the Constitution against the backdrop of serious suspicions of its violation is illogical, argues Radev. The head of State can’t accept when words go against deeds, and ceremonies replace principles.

The oath-taking ceremony will take place at 11 am on Friday.

On January 23 Radev challenged the constitutionality of the election of Desislava Atanasova and Borislav Belazelkov from the parliamentary quota and urged the oath to be postponed until the ruling of the court.
