A flu epidemic is declared in Pazardzhik Region (South Central Bulgaria), the Health Ministry said Wednesday. Temporary anti-epidemic measures are in force from January 26 to February 2. 

The measures include: suspension of routine consultations for healthy pregnant women and children; suspension of preventive check-ups and mandatory immunizations and re-immunizations; suspension of visits to hospitals and social care facilities for children and adults; daily examinations in nurseries, kindergartens and schools, with sick children to be returned home; disinfection and frequent ventilation of premises.

As of Thursday, temporary anti-epidemic measures are introduced in the regions of Varna, Burgas, and Sofia. A flu epidemic has also been declared in Smolyan, Gabrovo, Plovdiv, and Pleven.
