The number of children from vulnerable ethnic groups graduating from school in Bulgaria has doubled in ten years as a result of multiple policies of the Ministry of Education and Science for inclusion and additional support for these students. During this period, students of Roma origin who graduated from university increased sixfold, said Deputy Minister of Education and Science Natalia Miteva on Thursday during the 95th meeting of the  UN Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva, quoted by the press centre of here ministry.

Miteva pointed out that one of Bulgaria's goals in the field of early childhood development is to continue increasing the scope and quality of educational, social and health services for adolescents. Currently, 94% of school-age children are covered by the education system. When it comes to preschool children between 3 and 6 years old, the share of those covered is 87.3 %, and for children aged 2-3 years the share is 42.1%.

Miteva pointed to the Ministry's various activities on digitalization of education. One of them is providing educational institutions with electronic devices to ensure children have equal access to digital resources and education. The number of devices available to students is now nearly two and a half times higher than before the pandemic, she noted.
