The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) continued broadening its circle of partners among Bulgarian universities by signing an agreement with Technical University Varna. The partnership document was signed by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and the Rector of Technical University Varna, Prof Dragomir Plamenov.

Valchev said that with this latest agreement, BTA now has a partnership with 27 out of over 50 universities in Bulgaria, the ultimate goal being to have agreements with all of them. These agreements have very pragmatic goals, one of which is to systematically popularize the universities' activities both in Bulgaria and abroad, he explained. "The big goal is to have weekly information from Technical University Varna that would be of help to all Bulgarian media, which can re-publish it," Valchev noted.

Another aspect of the partnership are internships. "We expect to have interns from Technical University Varna at our correspondent's office in the city," Valchev went on to say. BTA is particularly interested in finding the right individual to become a correspondent covering the industry in the entire Southeast Planning Region of Bulgaria.

The University's Rector said that his establishment generates the highest number of engineering cadres outside of Sofia and has programmes in three higher education fields: technical, agrarian, and social sciences. He expressed certainty that the partnership with BTA will be beneficial. Given the University's highly qualified lecturers, Technical University Varna will be able to often produce events of interest and importance for the region and Bulgaria as a whole. The University's leadership will seek ways to assist with the expansion of BTA's network of correspondents, he noted.
