site.bta GERB Leader Borissov Talks with Hungarian PM Orban on the Phone

GERB leader Boyko Borissov said on Facebook he had assured Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban that Bulgaria meets all the requirements for joining the border-free Schengen area.

The two discussed Bulgaria's Schengen entry in a telephone conversation on Tuesday evening. Borissov recalled their joint inspection of the Bulgarian-Turkish border, during which Orban could see for himself that Bulgaria protects the EU external border according to all Schengen standards. "I also recalled the conclusions of the European Commission and the European Parliament that Bulgaria has met all the criteria for membership by land, air and sea," Borissov said.

He also informed Viktor Orban about the consensus reached by the leaders of the parties which support the government on halting the enforcement of a new fee of BGN 20/MWh for the import and transit of Russian gas via Bulgaria.

At the end of the conversation, Orban and Borissov once again underlined the very friendly relations between the two nations.
