site.btaValya Krushkina Fund Names Winners in 12th Edition of Journalist Competition

The Valya Krushkina Fund named the winners in the 12th edition of its journalist contest. The Fund was established at the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation as a memorial to veteran TV journalist Valya Krushkina who died in 2012. The Fund has two main purposes: to support the treatment of children with cancer and "brave Bulgarian journalism with a human face". The awards are intended to distinguish responsible and objective journalism. The contest is open to members of print and electronic media, Internet sites and blogs, and practitioners of civic journalism.

The awards ceremony was held at the Europe House on December 7 and was hosted by the Head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria Boyko Blagoev.

The 2023 Grand Prix went to Boris Mitov of www.svobodnaevropa.bg for three stories he has authored: "The Unsolved Blasts in the Shadow of Russia's War in Bulgaria"; "A Dead-End Street: How Not to Investigate the Planting of Drugs on a Journalist"; "I Don't See Working Institutions".

Vladislava Trichkova of bTV Media Group won in the category for journalist in electronic media for a report titled "Destination Survival".

Samuil Dimitrov of www.mediapool.bg grabbed the writing journalist prize for a story titled "Small Print Forbidden: Quick Loan Firms Lose Court Battle due to Small Print".

Anna Andreeva of Bulgarian National Television was distinguished among the cameramen for a film titled "Explorers of the Ice Continent". 

Мihail Mishev of www.klinklin.bg was named the best young journalist for an item headlined "How 667 People Contributed BGN 460,000 to the Movement for Rights and Freedoms within a Single Day".
