Bulgaria's Deputy Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Mihail Popov, has been inducted into the US Army War College (USAWC) International Fellows Hall of Fame in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. His nomination was approved by the US Department of the Army and the US Army War College, the Bulgarian Defence Ministry said Thursday.

Popov (Class of 2006) is now the second Bulgaria graduate of USAWC to be inducted into the International Fellows Hall of Fame. He is a former commander of the Bulgarian Land Forces.

Addressing members of the current USAWC International Fellows Program, General Popov said: "You will acquire the skill to rationalize the outcomes of possible crises and ways to prevent or resolve them at a strategic level. The relationships you will build with your fellow students here will help you, when you have to, to address complex problems together as leaders".

The induction into the International Fellows Hall of Fame is a prestigious honour for officers who have graduated the College with an exemplary service record, integrity, excellent performance, and dedication to duty, and who have attained the highest positions in their nation's armed forces, or who have held an equivalent position by rank or responsibility in a multinational organization. At present, the International Hall of Fame includes over 80 senior officers.
