A folk show will bring together Bulgarians in New York on November 10, the Consulate General of Bulgaria said on Facebook on Tuesday. The event will take place at 7p.m. at Balkan Cafe.

The Bulgarika Band, consisting of Donka Koleva (vocals), Nikolay Kolev (gadulka - a stringed instrument similar to the rebec), Temelko Ivanov (kaval flute), Nikolay Kodzhabashev (tambura) and Marin Chalamanov (davul), will perform at the show. Also taking part will be the Bosilek Ensemble (est. 1979), which is the first Bulgarian women's folk dance company in the US and Canada. Its Artistic Director Cathie Springer, a native of Pennsylvania, graduated from a school for artistic directors in Plovdiv (South Central Bulgaria) in 1980.

The audience will be able to join a horo chain dance and sample authentic Balkan cuisine.
