Protesters on Saturday gathered in front of one of Parliament's buildings in central Sofia which houses the Central Election Commission (CEC). They insisted that the CEC hold an extraordinary meeting to revoke its decision banning machine voting for the October 29 local elections. The heavily policed protest was organized on Facebook.

Georgi Georgiev of the BOEC civil association called on the demonstrators to breach the police cordon, and they briefly clashed with the law enforcers.

The protesters blocked traffic in front of the central bank. Part of them marched on the headquarters of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), while others remained in front of the CEC premises.

Passing past the President's Administration, they chanted "Radev Is Disgace" (referring to Bulgarian President Rumen Radev) and against Russian President Vladimir Putin. They pelted the MRF building with eggs and demanded the ouster of MRF Co-Floor Leader Delyan Peevski.

The protest continued in front of the headquarters of the Bulgarian Socialist Party.
