Minister Atanas Slavov will participate in the Justice meeting of a Justice and Home Affairs Council in Luxembourg on October 20, his Ministry said on Thursday.

The justice ministers will hold a policy debate on a European Commission proposal for a Directive to harmonise certain aspects of insolvency law. The EU ministers of justice will be updated about the state of play on the fight against impunity regarding crimes committed in connection with the war in Ukraine, and about the Member States' support for restoring justice in Ukraine and ensuring the stability of the justice system, including through training of Ukrainian magistrates. The participants will be invited to approve the Council conclusions on digital empowerment and fundamental rights, with a focus on promoting adequate media and digital literacy and building a safe digital environment. The Spanish Presidency and the Commission will inform the ministers about the accession of the EU to the Istanbul Convention. Over lunch, the justice ministers will discuss ways to improve the efficiency and quality of judicial systems.
