The cabinet decided on Wednesday that the delivery of intra-reactor detector blocks for Unit 6 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant will be possible until November 15, 2023. This reverses a previous decision on derogation from the bans introduced by Regulation No. 833/2014 on restrictive measures in view of Russia's actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine.
The earlier decision fixed the deadline for deliveries at September 15, 2023, when a contract between the Kozloduy NPP and Spartak-V OOD expires.
The Russian manufacturers have warned in a letter about a possible delay in transport to Bulgaria due to enhanced security measures and special inspections at the Port of Caucasus, which is the only possible exit point for delivery of the specific products to the Kozloduy NPP.
The new delivery deadline was set at November 15, 2023.
The scheduled annual maintenance of the N-plant's Unit 6 began on October 9.
