The Central Election Commission (CEC) Tuesday showed sample paper and electronic ballots for the October 29 local elections. Bulgaria will vote for mayors of municipalities, of boroughs in Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna, and of mayoralties, as well as for municipal councillors.
At 60 centimetres, the longest ballot paper is for Sofia Municipality, which lists the candidates for municipal councillors and mayor. The largest number of lists were registered for councillors in Sofia Municipality, CEC Deputy Chair and Spokesperson Rositsa Mateva said.
The voting sections, including mobile ones, number 12,089, with more to open in treatment facilities, detention facilities and old people's homes up to 48 hours before Election Day.
Mateva said the members of the section election commissions are already in training. Ten organizations with 355 observers and two polling agencies with 435 pollsters have registered for the elections. Sociological agencies can register until October 21.
