site.btaArchives State Agency Chair Attends International Council on Archives Congress

The International Council on Archives Congress, which brought together professionals from over 135 countries in Abu Dhabi, concluded on Friday. The forum was held under the motto "Enriching the Knowledge Community".

The Bulgarian delegation was led by Archives State Agency Chairperson Mihail Gruev. On the Bulgarian side, attending were also Dimitar Popov, expert at the State Archives Publicity Directorate and Desislava Sevova, Director of the Archives and References Directorate at the Bulgarian News Agency. The event was held in partnership with the United Arab Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The congress was opened by François Hollande, President of France between 2012 and 2017, on October 10. The forum presented various innovative solutions concerning the preservation, conservation and digitization of archives worldwide. Professionals from many countries around the world shared their experiences regarding their work with documents that are part of their national archives.

The International Council on Archives (ISA) was established with the help of UNESCO in 1948. Its first international congress was held in Paris in 1950.

The next ISA Congress will be hosted by Barcelona in October 2025.
